The Town of Dauphin Island

Information

Known as the “Sunset Capital of Alabama,” Dauphin Island is a small, friendly coastal town that welcomes visitors to uncrowded beaches, excellent fishing, and amazing birding opportunities. Tourists can visit locally owned shops, art galleries, and laid-back restaurants that serve delicious local seafood. Be sure to stop by the Dauphin Island Welcome Center, located in the Little Red Schoolhouse on Bienville Boulevard, just west of the water tower. The staff at the center are friendly locals who offer the latest information about the island and island-life. Accommodations on the island include motels, condominiums, and private homes available for rental in every season.

Located at southern tip of Alabama, Dauphin Island is just three miles south of Mobile Bay and easy to reach by a 30-mile drive south off Interstate 10 near Mobile, Alabama. Both the Town of Dauphin Island website and app are excellent resources for current information on the island.
